MJ’s Brazilian Bean Soup

1 cup ketchup
11/2 cups orange juice
3- 4 cups beef broth
3- 4 cans black beans
1 - 2 cans dice tomatoes
1 large onion- dice
3 cloves of garlic- dice
1 pepper- mild- dice
3 celery - dice
MJ house spice
3-4 tablespoons EVOO
1 1-2 pound lean hamburger or ground turkey
½ teaspoon celery seeds
2 tablespoon dried parsley- 3 tablespoon fresh chops
2 tablespoon dried oregano or 3 tablespoons freshly chopped
2- 3 tablespoon cumin
3-4 tablespoon chili powder - to taste
salt and pepper to taste
1 bay leaf


In a large dutch oven heat EVOO on medium heat then sauté dice onion , garlic , pepper and celery until slightly done place the lean ground chicken, turkey or, hamburger when the meat is caramelized add bay leaf, MJ house spice, celery seeds, oregano, parsley and cumin. Stir until all ingredients are incorporate together. Add black beans undrained, dice tomatoes, chili powder. Then add orange juice (cook for 5 minutes), beef broth, salt and pepper to taste. Cook on low to medium heat for 1 hours
Serve with cooked rice- topped with cheese, salsa and cheese corn muffins
