1 cup White rice or basmati rice
One small can of tomato sauce
1 tbsp Olive Oil
1/4 onion sliced
dash of salt (or salt to taste)
*150-200 for one cup of cooked rice. (Basmati has less calories than plain white rice)
On medium heat brown the rice with the olive oil and onion. Once it's browned add the tomato sauce. Using the empty tomato sauce can add water until water has completely covered the rice. Mix the rice a bit then bring to a boil. Add salt. Once rice is boiling and you see rice popping up above water reduce heat, cover with lid and simmer 20-30 minutes. Check rice at 20 mins to prevent the bottom from burning. When water has completely evaporated fluff with a fork, let stand about 5 minutes and then serve with your favorite dish. Tip: Recipe works best with a large pan with a lid rather than a pot.
