Unstuffed Cabbage Leaves

Meatballs - 1 lb. ground beef 1 c. instant rice 1 med. Onion, chopped 1 med. Carrot, grated 1 egg Salt & Pepper to taste Sauce - 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes 2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce 1-2 T. lemon juice, to taste Salt & Pepper to taste 1-3 t. sugar or sweetener, to taste Cabbage - Med. head of cabbage 2 to 4 T. butter or margarine ½ c. water Salt & Pepper to taste

Mix meatball ingredients together. Shape into balls or logs. Brown in small amount of oil. Turning as needed, for 5-10 minutes. Add sauce ingredients. Bring to boil, turn heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes. Wash and cut cabbage in ribbons removing core. Place in pot with water, butter, salt and pepper. Bring to boil, then turn on low and cook till tender. Plate cabbage, then place meatballs, top with sauce.
