a recipe that is a healthier version than the traditional fried method. A simple dessert the whole family will enjoy. Made with fresh apples and raisins and a unique crust.




Crust 1½ cup all purpose flour 3 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt ⅓ cup shorting 2 tablespoons sour cream 2 teaspoon vinegar 3 tablespoons water Filling 3 medium apples 1 tablespoon lemon juice ½ cup raisins ⅔ cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Crust Add sour cream and shorting to dry ingredients, using pastry tool, mix until resembles coarse cornmeal. Add water and vinegar and mix until manageable. Let dough rest while preparing filling. Filling Peal apples and dice into small chunks, add lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon and raisins, mix well. Roll dough into 6 inch circle, add 2 tablespoons apple mixture just off center moisten edges of dough with water fold top layer and crimp with fork. Bake 375 degree oven on lined cookie sheet for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
