Easy Apple Pie

A quick and easy apple pie that looks and tastes labor intensive. It's is a sure fire crowd pleaser"

2 9in Pie Crusts
1/2c unsalted butter
2 T all purpose flour
1 T Cornstarch
1/4c water minus 1 Tablespoon
1 T Vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
Dash Nutmeg
Dash Ground Ginger
Dash Cloves
½ c sugar
½ c packed brown sugar
8 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored & sliced (Can use half Honey Crisp for sweeter pie)

Preheat Oven to 425. Melt the butter in a saucepan, stir in flour/cornstarch to form a paste. Add water and sugars and heat through till it bubbles. Turn off burner but leave on hot burner.

Place crust in bottom of pan. Layer apples on top of bottom crust. One pie is filled with apples, pour saucepan contents over top of the apples reserving a 1/4c of the mixture. Place top crust onto pie. Lattice pattern works best. Brush remaining 1/4c mixture onto the top pie crust.

Bake 15 minutes at 425 then reduce oven to 350 and bake another 35-45 minutes until apples are soft. (Note: Put pie pan on a baking sheet covered in foil to catch any spill over.)
