Pizza Oven

Food for Thought:

The Joys of Pizza: A Global Phenomenon

Americans eat approximately 100 acres of pizza each day or about 350 slices a second, according to, an industry website that tracks sales and consumption of this popular food. In the U.S., 93% of Americans eat at least one pizza per month, but the popularity of pizza is a global phenomenon with pizza toppings often reflecting regional and cultural preferences. For example, in France a popular pizza combination is called the Flambé with bacon, onion and cream. In Russia, they serve pizza covered with “mockba,” a combination of sardines, tuna, mackerel, salmon and onions.

As pizza aficionados search far and wide for “the perfect pie,” a new Cuisinart product places all the tools for delicious pizza at consumers’ fingertips.  The Cuisinart Pizza Oven (model no. PIZ-100) allows home chefs to experiment with a variety of ingredients as they recreate the taste of authentic Italian pizza in their own homes.  The new product includes a pizza stone, mesh and peel, for baking pizza pies up to 12” in size.

What to Look for When Purchasing a Pizza Oven:

The Cuisinart Pizza Oven features a preset baking temperature of 450 degrees; preheating the pizza stone for 30 minutes provides ample heat to cook a fresh pizza pie in minutes.   The end result is a pizza crust that strikes the perfect balance of being crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.  Cuisinart’s new pizza oven will also accommodate frozen pizzas.

The pizza oven comes with professional quality accessories that make easy work of creating a fresh pie from scratch.

§         A pizza mesh is often used to achieve a round pizza shape.  It also prevents the pizza from getting soggy, so the end result is a crispy, delicious pie.

§         The pizza stone can be used to bake pizza and pie crusts.  The stone absorbs excess moisture and distributes heat evenly to make the crust light and crispy.

§         Once the pizza is done, a pizza peel (a wooden shovel-like tool) can be used to insert and remove the mesh from the oven.  The peel also doubles as a tool to cut and serve pizza.

Other key features include a power indicator light, a 30-minute timer with audible ready signal and a removable crumb tray.  For added convenience, the top of the unit functions as a plate warmer.

Cuisinart’s new pizza oven can handle the heat and moisture demands of a large, crispy-crust traditional pie or a delicate fruit tart.  For home chefs looking for new ideas, the Cuisinart Pizza Oven comes with a recipe booklet that helps consumers make everything from a basic sauce and classic Neapolitan pizza to an apple galette.

The Cuisinart Pizza Oven features stainless steel housing with chrome handle accents, similar to the commercial ovens commonly used in pizzerias.  This styling lends an authentic feel to the pizza making process, creating the ambiance of a true pizzeria.
