It is hard to resist a chocolaty coffee drink, even more so when it’s topped with whipped cream and shaved chocolate. Serve this drink in a tall glass for an extra-special presentation.

Ingredients

  • 1espresso capsule
  • 1tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • ½cup milk (dairy or nondairy)
  • ¼cup heavy cream, whipped to a
  • medium-soft peak
  • 1teaspoon shaved bittersweet
  • chocolate, or unsweetened cocoa
  • powder, for garnish (optional)

Preparation

  1. 1. Put the espresso capsule into the unit. Put
  2. the chocolate syrup into a large mug and
  3. place underneath the brew head. Reserve.
  4. 2. Put the milk into a separate heatproof mug.
  5. Hold the mug in one hand and place under
  6. the steam wand so the bottom of the wand
  7. is just below the surface of the milk at an
  8. angle. Select the Steam function and press
  9. the START/STOP knob to start steaming.
  10. While holding the mug at an angle, allow
  11. the steam to move the milk around.
  12. Once the milk begins to increase in volume,
  13. lift the mug up higher so the steam wand
  14. immerses deeper into the milk. When you
  15. can feel that the milk in the mug is quite
  16. hot, press the START/STOP knob to stop
  17. steaming. Tap the mug a few times to
  18. remove any larger bubbles.
  19. 3. Select a Single Espresso and allow it to
  20. brew into the mug with the chocolate
  21. syrup.
  22. 4. Slowly pour the steamed milk into the mug
  23. with the espresso and chocolate. Top the
  24. drink off with about 2 tablespoons of the
  25. whipped cream. If desired, top with shaved
  26. chocolate or cocoa powder.
  27. 5. Serve immediately.
