Café con Leche

Makes 1 serving

Start your morning off right with this traditional Spanish-style espresso drink.

Ingredients

  • 2espresso capsules
  • ¹⁄³ cup whole milk
  • 1teaspoon granulated sugar
  • (optional or to taste)

Preparation

  1. 1. Put 1 espresso capsule into the unit.
  2. Place a small mug underneath the brew
  3. head. Reserve.
  4. 2. Put the milk into a separate heatproof
  5. mug. Hold the mug in one hand and
  6. place under the steam wand so the
  7. bottom of the wand is just below the
  8. surface of the milk at an angle. Select
  9. the Steam function and press the
  10. START/STOP knob to start steaming.
  11. While holding the mug at an angle,
  12. allow the steam to move the milk
  13. around. Once the milk begins to
  14. increase in volume, lift the mug up
  15. higher so the steam wand immerses
  16. deeper into the milk (this will prevent
  17. large bubbles from forming and
  18. will make a nice fine milk foam). When
  19. the foam has almost reached the top
  20. of the mug and you can feel that the
  21. milk in the mug is quite hot, press the
  22. START/STOP knob to stop steaming.
  23. Tap the mug a few times to remove any
  24. larger bubbles.
  25. 3. Select Single Espresso and brew into
  26. the small mug. When brewing process
  27. is complete, discard used capsule and
  28. place a new capsule into the unit.
  29. Select Single Espresso and brew.
  30. 4. Slowly pour the steamed milk, holding
  31. back the foam, into the mug with the
  32. espresso. Sweeten to taste.
  33. 5. Serve immediately.
