Every parent is looking for new ways to streamline the back-to-school routine. Here we have a few ways that the kids can be put to work in helping to make their own lunch, or after school snack. Fun, simple, and kid-approved!

Ingredients

Almond Butter and Cherry

  • 2 slices soft sandwich bread
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 teaspoon cherry preserves

Chocolate-Hazelnut and Banana

  • 2 slices soft sandwich bread
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate hazelnut spread
  • Thinly sliced banana (depending on the side of the bread being used, it can be anywhere between 6 and 8 slices)

Sunflower Seed Butter and Strawberry

  • 2 slices soft sandwich bread
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower seed butter
  • 1 teaspoon strawberry jam

Preparation

  1. Place the slices of bread on a clean cutting surface. Spread the nut/seed butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread, and then spread the preserves/jam on top of the butter. Note: if preparing the sandwich with the sliced bananas, follow the same instructions for the nut/seed butter, and then place the banana slices on one side only.
  2. Close the sandwich so the fillings meet eachother.
  3. Firmly press down on the plastic crimper to seal the edges of the sandwich. Place the stainless steel cutter on top and twist to release crust from sandwich.
