Maple Matcha Latte

Makes 1 serving

Maple adds just the right amount of sweetness to a matcha latte.

Ingredients

  • 1½ teaspoons matcha powder, sifted
  • 4 ounces hot water
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 6 ounces milk (dairy or nondairy - preferably a "barista" variety if using nondairy)

Preparation

  1. Put the sifted matcha powder into a large, wide mug that is at least 12 ounces in capacity.
  2. Select Hot Water and, using the steam wand, brew 4 ounces (½ cup) of hot water directly into the mug with the matcha. Using a matcha whisk, or a small handheld whisk, whisk until smooth. Add the maple syrup; reserve.
  3. Put the milk into the frothing pitcher. Using the steaming wand, steam the milk until the foam has almost reached the top of the pitcher and you can feel that the milk is quite hot. Tap the pitcher a few times to remove any larger bubbles.
  4. Slowly pour the steamed milk into the mug with the matcha.
  5. Serve immediately.
