Ingredients
- 2tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- ¼cup sugar
- 1egg½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼cup flour
- 1½tablespoons cocoa powder
- ½teaspoon baking powder
- ¼teaspoon espresso powder (optional)
- pinch of salt
- 1tablespoon whole milk
- ¼cup chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or
- chopped walnuts (add-ins optional)
- melted butter for brushing
- powdered sugar for dusting
- whipped cream or ice cream to serve
Preparation
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk softened butter and
- sugar together until pale and fluffy. Whisk in egg
- and vanilla extract. Sift in flour, cocoa, baking
- powder, espresso powder (if using), and salt; mix
- to incorporate. Add the tablespoon of milk and stir
- until smooth. Mix in any add-ins.
- Preheat the Cuisinart® Sandwich Maker. Lightly
- brush the plates with melted butter. Carefully
- spoon the cake batter into each well of the
- preheated Sandwich Maker. Close the lid; lock
- and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until an inserted
- toothpick comes out clean. Carefully release cakes
- with a heatproof silicone spatula. Serve warm with
- a dusting of powdered sugar and whipped cream.
