Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  2. 2 apples, peeled, cored and cut into ¼-inch dice
  3. 12⁄3 cups reduced-fat milk
  4. ¾ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  5. ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  6. Divided 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  7. 1 cup whole-wheat flour
  8. 1 cup unbleached, all-purpose flour
  9. 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  10. 1 tablespoon baking powder
  11. 1 teaspoon table salt
  12. ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  13. Nonstick cooking spray

Preparation

  1. Put 2 tablespoons of the butter into a small sauté pan and set over medium heat. Once melted, add the diced apples. Let cook until browned and softened, about 4 minutes. Reserve.
  2. Put the remaining ingredients (except cooking spray), in the order listed, into the jar of your Cuisinart® PowerEdge® 1000 Watt Blender. Run on Low for 2 minutes, or until mixture is smooth.
  3. Add the apple mixture to the batter and Auto Pulse on High for about 8 seconds to combine.
  4. Lightly coat a Cuisinart® Belgian Waffle Maker with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat to Level 4. Pour the suggested amount of batter (refer to waffle maker instructions) onto the prepared, preheated waffle maker. Quickly and carefully spread the batter evenly with a heatproof spatula.
  5. Close the cover and cook until tone sounds.
