Each loaf serves 6-8
½ cup milk
8 tablespoon. sugar
2 teaspoon. salt
1 stick butter
1½ cups cool water
3 tablespoon. dry yeast
6 cups sifted flour

In a small sauce pan scald milk together with sugar, salt and butter. Add cool water to milk mixture; set aside.
In a mixing bowl combine 3 cups flour with yeast and add milk water mixture. Bead with mixer to smooth.
Add 2 cups flour and kneed to smooth texture, about 5 minutes. I kneed in container.
Cover, and let rise to double.
Punch down, turn out on flour covered foil, divide dough in half.
Knead with remaining flour and shape each half into a loaf; place in 2 greased 9x5x3 pan.
Let rise until doubled, approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Bake in 375 degree oven for 25-30 minutes.
Brush top of hot loaves with melted butter; remove from pans and cool on wire rack.
