Lima bean and barley soup


4 qts water
1 pound lima beans
1/4 pound barley
soup bones - how many is your choice, with or without meat your choice, I use 2-3 decent size marrow bones or a good size beef bone
3-4 celery stalks for stock
1 onion for stock
2 tbs parsley
1/8 tsp pepper
3 beef bouillon cubes
2 bay leaves


add soup bones, celery, onion to water - bring to boil - simmer 1 hour -- keep skimming( you are making stock) add water to keep to 4 qts water
add limas and all other ingredients(except barley)
cook until limas are soft
add barley
cook until barley is soft
season to taste
