5 to 6 peeled and sliced Potatoes(If using red, leave skin on)
1½ cup Grated smoked Gouda cheese
1½ cup Grated mild or sharp cheddar cheese
2 TBSP of flour
small chopped onion
sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder
2 TBSP of butter
2 cups of milk, light cream, half and half, or lactose free creamer(your choice)
Pre heat the oven to 400 degrees
-Blanch the sliced potatoes for pre baking
- In a med pot, melt the butter with the chopped onions, create a blonde roux with the flour, add the milk or cream, keep constantly stirring. Add the cheeses until everything melts into a cheese sauce. Set aside.
- put the blanched potatoes into a casserole dish or deep baking pan. season with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
- pour the cheese sauce over the potatoes and bake in the oven covered with foil for 35-45 min. For the last 15 min uncover the foil, so the top can brown.
