Mom's Baked Beans

Not for the vegetarian, or if you like spicy baked beans, these sweet & tangy baked beans have been in our family for years and are always requested, & always a big hit! A friend's family member requested the recipe for a BBQ TEN YEARS after having first tried them-saying they were the best beans ever!


Ingredients: 1/2 cup Brown Sugar 3/4 cup Ketchup 1 Large Spanish Onion, chopped 2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar 2 tbsp Molasses 1 ‘knife-tip’ of Mustard 4 or 5 cans of Busch’s Great Northern Beans if you're in a hurry, or you can make the Great Northern Beans (by the dry bags and cook) yourself Additional sliced Onion & Bacon for toppings.

Start by combining all ingredients EXCEPT Onions & Beans in a large pot. Warm slowly on the stovetop. When nearing to a boil, add Onions and cook until onions are almost clear. Add Beans and continue to cook on stove, low heat, for 30-40 minutes, stirring frequently. Place in a greased baking dish and top with sliced Onions and pre-cooked Bacon strips (for flavor & decoration). Bake at 325-350 degrees for 1 hour or until sauce thickens/reduces. ENJOY! And REMEMBER: Due to the syrupy nature of this dish it stays SUPER-HOT for a loooong time, so Be Careful!
