1½ cups basmati rice
1¼ cups water
1 ½-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and halved
2 garlic cloves, smashed
¾ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
Pinch cumin seeds
2 green cardamom pods, slightly smashed
1 ½-inch strip lemon peel
½ cup peas
2 cilantro sprigs, finely chopped

Put all of the ingredients, except for the peas and cilantro, dlrectly into the steamer without the tray. Secure lid.
Select Grains, set timer for 35 minutes and press Start.
Once timer expires, stir in the peas and then cover again.
Allow to sit for 5 minutes.
Before serving, carefully remove the ginger and lemon peel.
Stir in the chopped cilantro.
