Garlic Mashed Potatoes

A simple and delicious comfort food that is an excellent accompaniment to roasted meats and poultry.



Makes 6 servings


2  pounds russet potatoes, peeled, cut into 1½ pieces
6  large garlic cloves, peeled
3  tablespoons butter or margarine
½  cup 2% milk
Salt, to taste
White pepper, to taste

  1. Place the potatoes and garlic in a medium saucepan. Add water to cover the potatoes. Then cover the pan, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Remove the cover and cook the potatoes until tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Drain and return to the saucepan. Add the butter, and using a Cuisinart® Power Advantage PLUS 9-Speed Electronic Hand Mixer, blend on Speed 1 until the potatoes are broken up, about 15 seconds.
  3. Add the milk and gradually increase to Speed 4. Mix until smooth, 30 to 45 seconds. Season to taste with salt and pepper; mix until combined, about 10 seconds.
  4. Transfer to a serving dish, cover, and keep warm until ready to serve.
