Southern Baked BeansUser Submitted Recipe
2 large cans pork n beans
1 white onion
1 green bell pepper
6 strips thick bacon
1/2 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons dry mustard (may use 2 tablespoons regular mustard)
1 cup dark brown sugar (Splendabrown sugar works also)
Preheat oven to 350 deg, spray large covered baking dish with Pam, add beans to bowl, chop onion and bell pepper add to beans.
Add remaining ingredients except bacon mix well. Place bacon strips across bowl it is OK to criss cross bacon.
Put lid on bowl or cover with with aluminum foil.
Bake 45 min to 1 hour remove lid and continue baking for 30 minutes.
The longer you bake without burning it the better it tastes.
