This brown sugar-based sauce is the perfect warm topping for your ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 4tablespoons (½ stick) unsalted butter
  • ½cup packed dark brown sugar
  • ¼cup light corn syrup
  • 1teaspoon water
  • pinch salt
  • ¾cup heavy cream
  • 1teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Preparation

  1. 1. In a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan set over low
  2. heat, melt the butter. Add the sugar, corn syrup,
  3. water, and salt and stir to dissolve the sugar. Bring to
  4. a simmer over medium-low heat and allow to simmer
  5. for 4 minutes.
  6. 2. Take sugar mixture off the stove, and slowly and
  7. carefully stir in the cream and vanilla extract. Keep
