Ingredients
- 4medium to large apples
- (about 1 pound), peeled, coredand cut into ½-inch pieces
- 2tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2tablespoons water
- 1tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- ½teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼teaspoon kosher salt
- 1cinnamon stick
Preparation
- 1. Put all ingredients in a medium to large
- saucepan set over medium-low heat.
- Partially cover, bring mixture to a simmer;
- reduce heat to low to allow to cook down
- slightly, about 30 minutes. Apples should be
- knife-tender, but still maintaining their shape.
- 2. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Remove cinnamon stick and serve warm
- or chilled.
