A sweet/hot sauce perfect for dipping or pouring over chicken pork, turkey, ham, or sea foods. Not too hot, not too sweet, just right. Can be served at room temperature or cold.
⅔ cup tomato sauce
1 cup sugar
⅔ cup water
⅔ cup white vinegar
2 tbs soy sauce
½-1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon cloves
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tbs cornstarch mixed with 6 tbs water

mix the tomato sauce, sugar, water
white vinegar, soy sauce, cayenne powder, cloves, and black pepper together in a medium sized sauce pan. Bring to the boil and simmer 30-35 seconds. Stir in the cornstarch/water mixture and continue to simmer until thickened.
Store in a covered container. Refrigerate until needed.
