Bun Kabab Sandwich

This is a traditional Pakistani street food sandwich, we hope you enjoy as much as we enjoy out Cuisinart tools! You can add fun toppings like cheese, pickles, tomatoes, fries as you like, but the traditional way with patty and tamarind sauce is the best!

Ingredients

• 1 lb lean beef chunks
• ½ cup yellow split chickpeas
• 2 cardamom whole
• 3 teaspoon cumin (whole not powder)
• 10-12 whole black pepper
• 1 teaspoon red crushed pepper
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 4 cloves of garlic
• 1 inch piece of ginger
• 1 tablespoon chopped onions, slide remaining onion normally for rounds
• 6 oz Tamarind pulp
• 1 cup coriander
• 2 Thai chili pepper
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• 4 Kaiser Rolls
• 2 eggs

Instructions

1. Soak the ½ cup of yellow split chickpeas for 1 hour
2. Wash beef and put in large pot over medium heat
3. Add to pot the ½ cup of chickpeas, 2 cardamoms, 2 teaspoon cumin, 1teaspoon salt, black peppers, crushed pepper, 2 cloves garlic, chopped ginger, chopped onions, 1 Thai chili pepper
4. Add 1 Cup of water
5. Let everything simmer on low heat and slow cook/boil
6. After 1 hour or when all ingredients in pot and water has evaporated, make the heat high and cook for 5 more minutes without the water.
7. Take off heat and let cool
8. add all ingredients to Cuisinart Chopper and use a high setting to mince all the ingredients
9. keep pulsing the chopper until the ingredients are almost a thick dough or paste
10. then take out of chopper and make burger sized patties - add ½ cup coriander into patties as you make patties
11. in a separate bowl, beat the 2 eggs
12. dip the patties in the egg or brush over with a brush
13. warm a large pan and use your choice of either butter, olive oil, or cooking spray (only enough to grease surfacec)
14. shallow fry the patties on medium heat. cook both sides until light brown
15. Take out patties and put on baking sheet
16. Separately for the sauce; Mix the tamarind pulp, ½ cup coriander, 1 Thai chili, 1 teaspoon cumin, 2 cloves garlic, ¼ teaspoon red crushed pepper, 1teaspoon sugar, dash of salt
17. Mix the sauce ingredients in a Cuisinart Blender until a runny paste consistency. If too dry, you may add teaspoon of water
18. Warm Kaiser roll in pan, or in toaster over
19. place 2 Kababs on each roll, 2 pieces of onion (red onion is better), and tamarind sauce - Enjoy!
