1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking powder
3 cups flour


Preheat oven to 400 F. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add baking powder and flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing after each addition. If the dough is too stiff, you can add teaspoon of water. Do not chill dough. Roll into balls and place 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Press flat with a glass. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or just until slightly golden.
Let cool 5 minutes and frost with Royal icing
3 Tbsp meringue powder
4 cups powdered sugar
6 tbsp water
Beat all ingredients with mixer for 7 to 10 mins. at low speed until icing forms peaks. color with paste color in as many colors you want. Decorate with abandon-yummy!
