Cherry Balls

Bite size treats with just the right amount of sweetness.




½ c. softened butter ¼ c. powdered sugar 1½ c. sifted flour pinch of salt 1 t. vanilla 25-30 maraschino cherries, well drained QUICK CREAM ICING: 1 c. sifted powdered sugar 1 t. vanilla 2 T. heavy cream

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees and line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Mix butter and sugar to creamy consistency; add flour, salt, and vanilla. Mix with fingers until well blended. Gather about a tablespoon of dough and fold dough around cherry, making sure it's not too thick. Place on cookie sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes @ 350 degrees. Mix icing ingredients; blend cookies into icing while still slightly warm, and let sit on waxed paper until icing has hardened. A family favorite!
