Sausage Stuffed French Loaf

A quick to make and delicious entree meal. This dish can be accompanied by steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes & gravy or french fried onion rings.

1 - 16 Oz Loaf French Bread ½ Pound Ground Pork Sausage ½ Pound Ground Chuck 1 Med Onion (chopped) 1 Cup (4 Oz) Shredded Mozzarella Cheese 1 LargeEgg (lightly beaten) ¼ CupChopped Parsley 1 Teaspoon Dijon Mustard ¼ Teaspoon Fennel Seeds ¼ Teaspoon Salt ¼ Teaspoon Pepper 2 Tablespoons Butter 1 Large Clove Garlic (crushed)

Cut off ends of bread and set ends aside. Hollow out loaf with long knife leaving only a shell. Set shell and bread crumbs aside. Cook sausage, beef, and onion in a large skillet over medium high heat until meat is browned, stirring until it crumbles-drain. Add 1 cup of reserved bread crumbs, cheese, and next 6 ingredients and stir well. Spoon meat mixture into bead shell. Replace bread loaf ends by securing with tooth picks. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add garlic and sauté about 1 minute. Brush butter mixture over loaf. Wrap loaf in foil, leaving open slightly on top, place loaf on a baking sheet. Bake at 400 for 25 minutes or until loaf is heated and cheese is melted. Cut into pieces and serve warm.
