Sausage and Peppers

Ingredients

  • ¾ pound fresh Italian chicken sausage
  • ½ red onion, cut into thin wedges with the root intact
  • 1 large red pepper, halved, seeded, and sliced lengthwise
  • ½ teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt 
  • Pinch smoked paprika
  • Pinch freshly ground black pepper

Preparation

 

If using a basket-style Air Fryer: 

  1. Put the sausages into the air fryer basket. Select Roast, and set the time to 15 minutes and the temperature to 400°F.
  2. While the sausages are cooking, toss the onion and red pepper with the olive oil, salt, smoked paprika, and pepper.
  3. When 8 minutes are left on the display, add the onion and pepper to the basket. Cook until soft and golden. Toss once during cooking time for even results.
  4. Slice the sausages, toss with the cooked vegetables, and serve.

If using a Microwave-Air Fryer:

  1. Put the sausages into the air fryer basket fitted in the baking pan. Select Oven/AirFry, set the temperature and time to 400°F for 10 minutes, and press Start.
  2. While the sausages are cooking, toss the onion and red pepper with ½ teaspoon olive oil, salt, smoked paprika, and pepper.
  3. Once time expires, reserve the sausage on a plate.
  4. Place in the oven and cook for an additional 10 minutes on Oven/Air Fry at 400°F.
  5. Slice the sausages, toss with the cooked vegetables, and serve.
