Spicy Asian Grilled ShrimpUser Submitted Recipe
1 to 2 lbs fresh or frozen shrimp
2 cloves garlic finely chopped
¼ cup red onion finely chopped
¾ cup melted butter
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon hot chili sauce
½ teaspoon ground ginger
dash of cloves
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
½ teaspoon course ground pepper
½ teaspoon kosher or sea salt
The best shrimp I have found for this recipe is called Grill Cuts (frozen) because it is split and still in the shell so it is very easy to just lay right on the grill. You could also use skewers but that takes a little more work.
Add all ingredients to melted butter in a medium size bowl.
Brush the sauce mixture on the shrimp just before you place it on the grill. I grill the shrimp with the lid closed over hot coals with mesquite chips for about 15 minutes. If you leave lid open then only grill until the shell turns pink & make sure you soak the mesquite in water for at least 30 minutes before adding to the coals.
Serve the shrimp over good steamed rice and enjoy.
