This is the best chocolate cake ever. I get requests to bring it to work, and everyone loves it. Definitely for the chocolate lover!
1 box Devil's Food Cake Mix (NOT the kind with pudding already in it)
1 box Devil's Food OR Dark Chocolate Instant pudding mix (3.9 oz. size)
1 cup sour cream
½ cup warm water
½ cup applesauce
1 bag chocolate chips - any kind
1 can chocolate frosting (use "regular" NOT "whipped")

Place rack in center of oven. Preheat to 350 degrees. Spray a bundt pan with cooking spray and dust with cocoa. Shake out excess.
Put the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, warm water and applesauce in a large mixing bowl. Blend using electric mixer on low for 1 minute, then scrape sides of bowl. Beat 2-3 more minutes on medium, scraping sides as needed. Fold in the chocolate chips, then spoon the batter into the bundt pan, smoothing down the top so it's level.
Bake at 350 degrees in center of oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the cake starts to pull away from the sides of the pan, and top springs back when touched. Let cool for 20 minutes, then run a long sharp knife around the edge and invert onto a serving platter. Let cool completely.
Place opened can of frosting into the microwave for 10-15 seconds, then stir. Keep repeating until frosting is thick but pourable. Drizzle over cooled cake.
***Be sure to take the cake out of the pan at 20 minutes. If left in the pan longer, it tends to stick and fall apart when you try to remove it.***
