Peppermint Creamed Chocolate Dumplings
For the dumplings:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup good-quality sweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cold butter
1/2 chilled milk
For the Cream:
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon flour
1 (5 oz) can evaporated milk
3/4 heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint

In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut butter into dry ingredients using a fork. Make a well in the center and pour the chilled milk to form dough. Set the dumpling dough to the side.
In a large saucepan, drop the butter and add flour. This will thicken the cream. Add the evaporated milk, heavy cream, and the sugar, and bring to a boil. Using a large spoon, drop the dumplings into the hot mixture. Cover the saucepan, reduce the heat to low, and let simmer for 25 minutes. Do not remove the lid before hand, and do not stir the dumplings.
After the 25 minutes have passed, remove the dumplings and place onto serving platter. Add the vanilla and peppermint extracts, and the fresh mint, to the cream mixture. Pour sauce over dumplings. Garnish with extra mint leaves if desired.
