Mix sifted flour w/ginger, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Cream sugar and shortening, add egg and molasses. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Form small balls of dough, roll in granulated sugar and place 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
