1 c. sugar 1 c. powdered sugar 1 c. butter ¾ c. + 2 Tbsp cooking oil 2 eggs, well beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla 4 c. flour 1 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon cream of tarter ½ teaspoon salt Cherries or walnuts for decoration
Cream sugars and butter, add oil, eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Stir sifted dry ingredients into sugar mixture. Chill for 2 hours. Shape into balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten each cookie with a glass that has a decorative bottom, dipped in sugar. For the holidays I top each cookie with half a cherry or a walnut. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
