Preparing the cherries may seem like a lot of work but trust me it is ALL worth it. Pit cherries, carefull that you do not get cherry juice all over yourself (it can get messy). Slice cherries in halves. Set aside.
Pre heat oven to 350. greae a 13"x9" pan.
In a mixer cream butter and sugar together. Stir in apple sauce, eggs, and vanilla. beat for 2min.
Add the flour and baking powder alternating with milk. Beat 1 min.
Divide batter in half. In one half, stir in the cocoa.
Pour the chocolate batter in the pan first. Spread so that it is even. Arrange your cherries evenly over chocolate batter. Gently pour the vanilla batter evely over the cherries.
Bake for 35-45 min untill a fork inserted in middle comes out clean. Allow to cool as little as posible this cake is best hot out of the oven. It is really good with a spoonfull of whip cream on top. Enjoy!
