Chocolate Chip Cookies

My mom and I would make these cookies all the time. I remember coming home from school and getting these for a snack with a big glass of milk."


2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup Margarine
1 cup Sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 package (12 ounces) mini semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)


1. Heat oven to 375ºF.

2. Mix shortening, margarine, sugars, and eggs and vanilla thoroughly.

3. Measure flour in separate bowl and stir in baking soda. Slowly add mixture in to wet ingredients.

4. After they are well blended, add chocolate chips. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

5. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft). Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
