This makes a GREAT breakfast for Thanksgiving or Christmas morning.
1 unsliced loaf of French or Italian bread
¾ cup orange juice
½ cup cream
2 tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
¼ teaspoon salt
Orange slices and powdered sugar for garnish

Cut bread into 1 inch slices and arrange them in a single layer in a greased jellyroll pan.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs, orange juice, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, grated orange peel, and salt until well blended.
Pour egg mixture over bread, turning slices to coat completely. Cover and refrigerate over night until the liquid is absorbed.
Remove bread to greased baking sheet. Dot with butter and bake 400 degrees for 10 - 20 minutes, turning once half way through. Bread should be lightly browned.
Garnish with orange slices and powdered sugar. Serve with maple syrup.
