A new twist to a quick breakfast favorite. The addition of lavender is a lovely surprise in this fruit smoothie.
1 banana, peeled and frozen
½ cup plain lowfat yogurt, preferably Greek style
½ cup almond milk
1 cup frozen mangoes
1 teaspoon. food grade lavender buds ground fine (use an old coffee grinder or a mortar and pestle)
Very cold water - start with ½ cup

Add all ingredients to the blender bowl and process until smooth. You may have to adjust the quantity of liquids depending upon the juiciness of your fruit.
For variations, experiment with different fruits and fruit mixtures; summer melons are especially good. A refreshing summer variation is to omit the yogurt and milks, substituting additional fruits, 2 T. fresh lemon juice, and more cold water if needed. Lemon and lavender are naturals together! Use very sweet fruits in this case - summer super-ripe melons are just the ticket.
