Dried Cherry & Hazelnut Loaf
Makes one 1½-pound loaf
Cherries and hazelnuts are a winning combination, making a loaf of bread that’s beautiful when sliced.
Ingredients
- 1¼ cups low-fat buttermilk, room temperature
- ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, room temperature, cut into ½-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 2 cups whole-wheat flour
- 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
- 2¼ teaspoons yeast (active dry, instant, or bread machine)
- ⅓ cup dried cherries
- ⅓ cup hazelnuts, roughly chopped
Preparation
- Put all ingredients, except the cherries and hazelnuts, in the order listed into the bread pan fitted with the kneading paddle. Secure the bread pan in the Cuisinart® Bread Maker.
- Press the PROG button to select the Whole Wheat program. Select the desired Crust Color and Loaf Size. Press START/STOP to begin the bread-making process.
- When the add-in signal sounds, add the cherries and hazelnuts. If desired, when the paddle signal sounds, press START/STOP to pause the unit; remove the dough and kneading paddle, reshape the dough, and replace in the bread pan. Press START/STOP to continue.
- When the cycle is complete, remove the bread pan from the machine, and then transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
