Traditionally served with baked beans, it is also delicious when smeared with salted butter or cream cheese.

Ingredients
- 1cup buttermilk
- ⅔ cup molasses
- 1cup whole-wheat flour
- ¼cup cornmeal
- ½teaspoon kosher salt
- ½teaspoon baking soda
- ½teaspoon baking powder
- ½teaspoon grated orange zest
- ½cup pitted dates, chopped
- Nonstick cooking spray
Preparation
- Put all of the ingredients, except for the dates, into a large
mixing bowl. Whisk until well combined. Stir in the dates. - Lightly coat a 9-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray. Transfer the batter to the pan and cover with foil. Put the pan onto the tray inside the steamer. Secure lid.
- Select Manual, set timer for 40 minutes and press Start.
- Once the timer expires, carefully remove the pan and
transfer to a cooling rack. Remove foil and allow to cool completely before serving.
