Hibiscus Latte

Makes 1 serving

A slightly tart caffeine-free drink that is delicious both hot and iced.

Ingredients

  • (recipe follows), chilled
  • ½cup milk (dairy or nondairy)

Preparation

  1. in a glass that’s
  2. at least 12 ounces in capacity. Reserve.
  3. 2. Put the milk into a heatproof mug. Hold
  4. the mug in one hand and place under
  5. the steam wand so the bottom of the
  6. wand is just below the surface of the
  7. milk at an angle. Select the Steam
  8. function and press the START/STOP
  9. knob to start steaming. While holding
  10. the mug at an angle, allow the steam
  11. to move the milk around. Once the milk
  12. begins to increase in volume, lift the
  13. mug up higher so the steam wand
  14. immerses deeper into the milk (this will
  15. prevent large bubbles from forming and
  16. will make a nice fine milk foam). When
  17. the foam has almost reached the top
  18. of the mug and you can feel that the
  19. milk in the mug is quite hot, press the
  20. START/STOP knob to stop steaming.
  21. Tap the mug a few times to remove any
  22. larger bubbles.
  23. 3. Pour the steamed milk into the glass
  24. with the Hibiscus Syrup. Serve
  25. immediately.
