Ingredients

  • 2ounces skim milk
  • 1measured scoop finely ground
  • espresso or 1 espresso pod

Preparation

  1. Pre-chill the frothing pitcher. Press the power
  2. button of the Cuisinart® Espresso Maker to
  3. turn the machine on. The lights around the power, manual, single and double
  4. espresso buttons will illuminate and when they
  5. stop blinking, the machine has been warmed
  6. and is ready to use.
  7. Place the one-cup filter basket in the
  8. portafilter holder. Spoon the espresso grounds
  9. into the basket. Using the tamping tool, press
  10. down the grounds with moderate pressure
  11. and clean any excess from the rim. Secure
  12. the portafilter holder in place.
  13. Press the steam button and once the light
  14. stops blinking, it’s ready for use.
  15. Pour the milk into the pre-chilled frothing
  16. pitcher. Turn the steam/hot water dial to the
  17. steam setting. Hold the pitcher in one hand
  18. and place it under the steam wand so the
  19. bottom of the wand is just below the surface
  20. of the milk. Once the milk begins to increase
  21. in volume, lift the pitcher higher so the steam
  22. wand is immersed farther into the milk. Move
  23. the pitcher up and down a couple of times to
  24. achieve a nice foam. When the foam has
  25. almost reached the top of the pitcher, turn
  26. the dial to the off position.
  27. Place demitasse cup underneath the brew
  28. head and press the button above the single
  29. espresso button.
  30. Espresso will begin to brew. When 1½ ounces
  31. have been brewed the machine will stop.
  32. Using a large spoon, place one tablespoon of
  33. the frothed milk on top of the espresso.
