Ingredients

  • 4ounces skim milk
  • 1measured scoop finely ground
  • espresso or 1 espresso pod

Preparation

  1. Pre-chill the frothing pitcher. Press the power
  2. button of the Cuisinart® Espresso Maker to
  3. turn the machine on. The lights around the
  4. power, manual, single and double
  5. espresso buttons will illuminate and when they
  6. stop blinking, the machine has been warmed
  7. and is ready to use.
  8. Place the one-cup filter basket in the
  9. portafilter holder. Spoon the espresso grounds
  10. into the basket. Using the tamping tool, press
  11. down the grounds with moderate pressure
  12. and clean any excess from the rim. Secure
  13. the portafilter holder in place.
  14. Press the steam button and once the light
  15. stops blinking, it’s ready for use.
  16. Pour the milk into the pre-chilled frothing
  17. pitcher. Turn the steam/hot water dial to the
  18. steam setting. Hold the pitcher in one hand
  19. and place it under the steam wand so the
  20. bottom of the wand is just below the surface
  21. of the milk. While holding the pitcher at an
  22. angle, allow the steam to move the milk
  23. around. Once the milk begins to increase in
  24. volume, lift the pitcher higher so the steam
  25. wand is immersed farther into the milk. Move
  26. the pitcher up and down a couple of times to
  27. achieve a nice foam. When the foam has
  28. almost reached the top of the pitcher, turn the dial to the off position.
  29. Turn the espresso maker back on. Wait for the
  30. machine to re-warm, if necessary. Place one
  31. demitasse cup underneath the brew head and
  32. press the single espresso button.
  33. Espresso will begin to brew. When 1½ ounces
  34. have been brewed the machine will stop.
  35. Slowly pour the steamed milk into the glass to
  36. ½ below the top.
