Italian Cheese Straws

Delicious appetizer that can be served warm or cold or as a side dish.

1 puff pastry 1 cup Grated parmesan cheese 2-3 teaspoon Italian seasoning (fresh or dried) 1 teaspoon Garlic powder

Preheat oven to 400°. Remove pastry puff from package and allow to soften for 30-45 minutes. Mix the grated cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder to taste - if you like more cheese add more or like a lot of garlic add more. Unroll pastry puff dough and cover with ¾ of the cheese mixture. Slice the dough into thirds along the fold lines of the dough and into thin strips in the other direction to make steak fry sided sticks. Twist each strip and press the ends to hold the shape. Roll each twisted strip into the remaining cheese mixture. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. In a small bowl lightly scramble an egg and then apply a light egg wash on the tops of the twists. Cook for 12-16 minutes until just starting to turn golden brown - watch carefully towards the end these are small and can burn quickly. Serve warm or cooled they taste great either way :)
