Scrumptious Bacon Wrapped Water ChestnutsUser Submitted Recipe
~1 (8oz) can whole water chestnuts
~1 (16oz) pkg sliced bacon (not maple)
~about 1-1.5 cups light brown sugar
~about 2 cups ketchup
Preheat oven to 350. Stir enough ketchup and brown sugar together in a medium bowl to make a thick sauce of about 1.5-2 cups total volume.
Cut the bacon in half. Wrap a piece of bacon around a chestnut, flat sides being wrapped, not around, skewer with a toothpick. Place upright in a 9x13 pan (you can foil the bottom. It’s quite messy.) Repeat until all the chestnuts are gone. You may have some bacon leftover. Spoon sauce over them; try not to get it on the toothpick tops. Wiggle them around to make sure they are all coated nicely. Bake for 45 minutes; be careful not to burn the sauce. Serve warm!
