For babies and grown-ups alike, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It packs precious nutrients and essential health benefits into a tasty meal. So what’s not to love? Now that your baby is a Stage 2 eater, try these three breakfast foods with plenty of nutritious value. It’s important to set healthy eating habits for your baby early on, so that it becomes a natural practice later in life.
Egg Yolk Omelet
There’s nothing your baby needs more at this stage than lots of protein. Brain and muscle growth are very important.
Makes 1 to 2 servings
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons vegetable purée
Heat a small skillet over medium low heat. Stir yolks together and add them to
the skillet. Allow to cook until the yolk is completely cooked through.
Place cooked yolk and vegetable puree in the work bowl of the Cuisinart® Baby Food Maker & Bottle Warmer fitted with the metal chopping blade. Process until desired consistency is achieved – for the smoothest consistency add breast milk or formula.
Delicious, and Mommy or Daddy can take a healthy bite as well. Oatmeal is packed with ‘good’ cholesterol and baby’s fruit intake is equally essential, too.
Makes about ten 1-ounce servings
1 cup cooked oatmeal
1 ripe banana
2 tablespoons pureed apricots (or any fruit purée)
Place oatmeal, banana and apricot purée in the work bowl of the Cuisinart® Baby Food Maker & Bottle Warmer. Process mixture for 30 seconds, scrape bowl and process until desired consistency is reached.
Breast milk or formula can be added for an even smoother texture.
Fruity Yogurt Breakfast
Yogurt and fruits: the ultimate nutrient mix. Your baby is bound to start the day with a boost of energy – especially if you’ve got a speedy crawler!
Makes twelve 1-ounce servings
8 ounces plain yogurt
1 ounce mango purée
1 ounce peach purée
Place ingredients in work bowl of the Cuisinart® Baby Food Maker & Bottle Warmer fitted with metal chopping blade. Process for 15 seconds and scrape work bowl. Process again until desired consistency is reached.
Serve immediately or store in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
