Squash is one of the most versatile foods out there. It can be a sweet treat on its own, or spiced up with cheese or vegetables. It also makes for a vitamin-packed puree.
Baked or steamed apples are always a tasty treat for baby. When you steam apples, you retain the fruit’s nutrients. Baking apples enhances the flavor. Either way, your baby is bound to love a good applesauce or puree.
A good source of unsaturated fat (read: this develops the brain), avocados are another shopping cart must-have for your baby. The texture is perfect as it is already essentially a puree.
This omnipresent seed is loaded with goodies: potassium, calcium and iron, to name a few. Quinoa serves as an ideal base for veggies or yogurt, no matter how you want to dress it.
Prunes are full of fiber, which can be extremely comforting for a baby’s digestive system. If your baby is having some tummy issues (common during the first few months of experimenting with different foods), prunes are likely to help. You can mash them with a fruit-based puree or add the mixture to cereal.
