Mrs. C's Turkey Chilly

Sweet and Spicy Turkey Chilly. Low Fat, healthy, hearty and a real crowd pleaser"


3 lbs ground turkey
2 lrg sweet onion
1 ea red, yellow & orange bell peppers
5 lrg cloves garlic or 2 heaping tbs of prepared chopped garlic in oil
2-3 tbl EVOO
1 lrg jar hot salsa
5 cans (15 oz) stewed tomatoes (no salt)
2 (15 oz)cans diced tomatoes
.25 oz cumin
2 tbs chilly powder
2 cans light red kidney beans drained(optional)
Garnish-Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese


wash & slice peppers (set aside)
chop onion and garlic (set aside)
brown ground turkey in a large pot. Add cumin and mix into meat thoroughly. Add Stewed tomatoes and diced tomatoes. Bring to a boil then lower heat and simmer. In a separate pot put EVOO & cook onions until glazed. Add garlic and cook for about 2-4 minutes. Add this mixture to the meat mixture. Add Salsa, beans and peppers. Stir to mix. Add chilly powder and mix well. Cook on low for about 1 1/2 hours. Place in bowl and garnish with shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Serve
