Sam's Turkey ChiliUser Submitted Recipe
1½ cups onion chopped
1½ cups celery chopped
1 - 2 jalapeno seeded and chopped (more to taste)
4 cloves garlic chopped
1½ pounds ground turkey
2 tbsp Mexican oregano
2 tbsp ground cumin
3 tbsp extra light olive oil
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 tsp salt
2 4.5oz cans chopped green chilies
2 14.5oz cans petite cut diced tomatoes drained
2 15oz cans Goya White Hominy drained and rinsed
2 15oz cans Goya Cannelloni beans drained and rinsed (mash half the 2nd can to thicken chili)
1 32oz box Swanson Organic chicken broth
1 lime juiced
1/2 cup cilantro coarsely chopped
Heat the olive oil in a stockpot. Add the garlic, celery, and onion; sauté until onion is transparent.
Add the oregano, cumin, salt and pepper, turkey and sauté, breaking the turkey apart into small chunks, until the turkey is all white.
Add the tomatoes, jalapeno, and green chilies; combine and sauté for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the hominy, Cannelloni beans, and chicken broth and let simmer with lid on for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Prior to serving, stir in lime juice and cilantro.
