Chow-Chow has been a favorite at holidays. Try a spoonful over a serving of black-eye peas for New Years. Don't forget the dime in the pot of peas. The one who is served the dime has good luck all year!!"
Ingredients
1 gallon chopped cabbage
1 gallon chopped tomatoes-red or green
1 quart chopped onions
1 dozen chopped sweet peppers
1 cup of salt
3 tablespoons dry mustard
2 tablespoons turmeric
1 tablespoon cloves
1 tablespoon celery seeds
1 tablespoon cinnamon
3 pounds sugar
1/2 gallon vinegar
Instructions
Mix cabbage, tomatoes, onions, sweet peppers, and salt. Let stand for two hours. Squeeze until dry. Add the rest of the ingredients into a deep pot. Bring to a boil then turn down to medium heat for 30 minutes. Put into canning jars and seal.
