Hawaiian Tea Cookies
User Submitted Recipe
“
I lost my mother 30 years ago, when I was in my 20's. When I was quite young, we lived in Hawaii and I remember she would make these cookies for holidays. It was only when I grew up and moved away that I learned these were also known as Russian Tea Cookies and could be made with pecans. But for me, macadamia nuts will always be the best and they will always remind me of my mother."
Ingredients
1 cup soft butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts
Instructions
Heat oven to 400°
Cream together butter, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add dry ingredients, and stir in nuts. Roll into 1 inch balls and place 2 1/2 inch apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 – 12 minutes or until just starting to turn brown. While warm, roll in confectioners sugar. Let cool, and roll in confectioners sugar again.
