Clouds At Sunrise
“
This amazing dessert is much better the second day. My grandmother has made this for special occasions for years and it never lasts long!"
Ingredients
6 egg whites
3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 cups sugar
2 cups (about 45) crushed saltine crackers
3/4 cup chopped nuts
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups whipping cream
2 - 21 oz cans of cherry pie filling
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Beat egg whites until frothy, add cream of tartar, then gradually add sugar. Beat until stiff. Fold in crushed crackers, nuts and vanilla. Spread into a well buttered 9x13 glass baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool on rack.
Whip cream, spread over top and spoon pie filling over cream. Chill several hours or overnight before serving.
